IN DEVELOPING PLANTS suitable for Florida landscape use, we have been breeding & selecting for the following traits:

BRIGHT, CLEAN FLOWER COLORS: We have bred for bright, saturated tones in the darker colors and "clean", clear pastels.

ATTRACTIVE FOLIAGE: Kaskel Daylilies™ have sturdy dark blue-green foliage that arches and recurves to make a pleasing mound.

BALANCED PLANTS: On the “low-height” daylilies the flowers, flower stems and foliage ought to be small “Medium-Height” daylilies have somewhat larger flowers, stems & foliage while the “Tall-Height” strains have larger flowers, strong sturdy stems and suitably large foliage. Each has been bred to make a pleasing & balanced composition.

SUITABLE RATE OF INCREASE: Our daylilies are quick to establish in the ground and increase the number of plants or "fans" at a moderate rate. Too slow plant increase allows weeds to overgrow the daylily while overly fast increase means that the plant is devoting too much of its energy to the plant and not enough to flower production.

RESISTANCE TO DISEASE: Daylilies are generally very hardy plants, but they do suffer from a number of diseases, the most serious of which is Daylily Rust.  All the Kaskel Daylilies™ have been selected to show virtually no damage by this ever-present pest.

LONG BLOOM SEASON: Our daylilies begin to bloom here in South Florida in late March and continue to bloom until late June. There is some sporadic bloom, however, in July & August. I have bred with those daylilies that begin blooming early and then continue to repeat bloom, so as to produce a long bloom season.
